Mohamad Esmaili

Mohammad is a master’s graduate in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He was a valuable member of our team who had a passion for robots. He resolved various issues in the robot’s navigation and vision system. He was responsible for solving the problem of avoiding virtual obstacles by fusing data from RGB-D sensors and laser scanners. He created a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) application that allowed us to easily set up and tune the robot for different tasks and environments. His work significantly reduced the robot setup time and increased our productivity and efficiency.
Mohammad had a wealth of experience in robotics, having worked as a lead software developer and researcher in the Advanced Mobile Robotics Laboratory (AMRL Rescue Robots), Middle-Size Soccer Robots Laboratory, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Robots Laboratory. He contributed to our team’s success in RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2017 (Thailand), RoboCup 2018 (Canada), and RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2018 (Iran), where he designed and implemented innovative solutions for complex challenges.
Mohammad was not only a skilled engineer, but also a generous mentor and teacher. He shared his knowledge and experience in robotics, programming, and ROS framework with many newcomers, helping them learn and grow. He is always ready to help his teammates, share his insights, and motivate us to perform better. He organized the code structure of the team, ensuring clarity and consistency. He also played a key role in developing the robot’s decision-making, which enabled the robot to adapt to different situations and tasks.
